What to Bring to Girls State

Congratulations on your decision to attend Girls State! To make sure you have the best possible experience be sure to be prepared and bring all necessary items. Remember: Girls State IS NOT a vacation. View a printable list here.

a good attitude and willingness to learn

bullet

classroom attire (that which is accepted in one’s school and by one’s school code) slacks, jeans and shorts will be permitted, but no short shorts or sloppy jeans, except in dormitories or at recreation periods.

comfortable shoes (you will be walking quite a bit!)

bullet

a pair of white gloves

bullet

dressy dress or outfit for graduation

bullet

sweater or light jacket

bullet

raincoat and umbrella

bullet

bed linens for a twin bed with blanket or spread and a pillow

bullet

towels, soap, shower shoes and toilet articles

bullet

necessary sanitary articles (please come prepared)

bullet

equipment for light sports, and musical instruments are acceptable

bullet

coat hangers

bullet

phone (phone jack in room) and calling card or credit card to make calls

bullet

alarm clock or clock radio

bullet

inexpensive camera for taking pictures of a great experience

notebook and writing instruments

bullet

All required forms (see forms page to download) - key agreement, medical waiver, Girls State Pledge, and parent's waiver

375 copies of your bill if you submitted one

bullet

Any scholarship applications with supporting documentation

You may wish to bring money from home to buy Girls State items or snacks

Other Things to Note:

Please Do Not Bring Anything Of Value With You -- Especially Expensive Jewelry. We will have a bank for you to check money while you are at Girls State

No citizen is to bring campaign material from home

bullet

If a girl drives to Girls State, car keys must be turned in upon arrival.  When keys are turned in, a parking permit will be issued.  Without the permit the college may issue a parking citation.
